SAMSON
This sculpture of Samson killing a lion (Judges 14/6) is located in Karlsruhe, Germany. Samson is one of the men of faith in the chapter of faith(confession) in Hebrews His story is found in Judges chapters 13,1 We learn a lot from the story of Samson’s life, but now I will make just one point.
↪️ We are called to live a holy life.
The meaning of the name Samson is ‘like the sun’.
The manner of his birth was a miracle. The angel of God came to his barren (maseena) mother and spoke to her the message he had brought from God…(Judges 13/3,5 & 7)
”And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the man’s wife, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and no razor shall come upon his head: for he shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb. for the child shall save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
But, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. he told me.” she said.
↪️ The command/command here to the mother is clear:
Samson is a man consecrated to God, he must keep himself holy, separate, and he must not drink alcoholic beverages. If you read Samson’s life throughout, we will learn a lot from his strengths and weaknesses. We realize that he strayed from the path of holiness, went the wrong way, and paid a heavy price.
Just as Samson was called to be consecrated to God, we Christians are called to live a life of holiness, a life of consecration to God.
God tells us in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, ‘Be holy, for I am holy. (Lev 7/20, 1 Pet 1/16)
Therefore,
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. and so you will worship God in spirit. Do not follow the example of this passing age! And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. And the love of God is to prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12/1,2
Note: in the world we live in, holiness is losing its place, but impurity is gaining more importance… holiness is being suppressed and impurity is being supported by law.
for example: I was shocked and saddened to see with my own eyes how widespread homosexuality is in my current country, Germany, how much it is corrupting the generation.
My friends we must wake up we cannot prevent what is going to happen in the last days, we can save ourselves and save the generation by waking up and understanding. the days are like the days of Noah and the days of Lot as the Lord said (Luke 17/26,33) let us be awake!
